This is not the winter of Sting’s discontent. In fact, the singer was likely the only person actually looking forward to this week’s snowstorm, even though he had to trudge through it to get to work just like the rest of us. The incredibly youthful-looking 67-year-old had settled into Toronto for preview performances of The Last Ship, the musical he wrote and is starring in at the Princess of Wales Theatre for the next six weeks...

Casting is complete for the Canadian premiere of Sting's Broadway musical The Last Ship, which will run February 9–March 24, 2019, at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre. The Last Ship has received two nominations in the 2018 UK Theatre Awards for Best Touring Production and Best Performance in a Musical for Frances McNamee. The UK Theatre Awards are the only nationwide Awards to honour and celebrate outstanding achievements in regional theatre throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This year’s UK Theatre Awards will take place at London’s historic Guildhall, on Sunday 14 October 2018.

The Last Ship docks at The Lowry to ace reviews...

In what has seemed like the blink of an eye, The Last Ship has arrived in Manchester, the final destination of its UK voyage, where it docks at The Lowry until Saturday 7 July. The reviews from Tuesday's opening night in the city have been extremely positive as they have been since the play opened in Newcastle in March. Some tickets remain available here
